This Privacy Policy explains what personal data The Bible Shop (“we”, “us”) collects when you visit thebibleshop.in or buy from us, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. We follow the Information Technology Act, 2000 and its rules, and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
1. Who We Are
The Bible Shop is based in Kuruppampady, Kerala, India. You can reach us at support@thebibleshop.in.
2. What We Collect

- Account details: if you create an account, your login email, password (stored encrypted) and saved addresses.
- Order history: what you bought, when, the amount paid and the payment method used.
- Payment details: payments are handled by Razorpay. We do not see or store your full card number, UPI PIN or net-banking password. We receive only a confirmation of payment and a transaction reference.

- Technical data: your IP address, browser and device type, and cookies (see section 6).
- Newsletter: your email address, only if you choose to sign up.
3. Why We Use It
- To process, pack, deliver and track your order, and to handle returns and refunds.
- To take payment and prevent fraud.
- To send order confirmations, shipping updates and replies to your questions.
- To run your account, if you have one.
- To keep invoices and accounts as required by GST and other Indian laws.
- To send news about new arrivals and offers, only if you have agreed to receive them. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- To keep the website secure and working properly.
We use your data only for these purposes. When you place an order or create an account, you give us your data for that purpose. For marketing, we ask for your separate consent, which you can withdraw as easily as you gave it.
4. Who We Share It With
We never sell your personal data. We share only what is needed with:
- Delivery partners: Shiprocket and the courier companies it works with (for example Delhivery, Blue Dart, DTDC, Ekart or India Post) receive your name, phone number, delivery address and parcel details, so they can deliver your order and send tracking updates.
- Payment provider: Razorpay, to process your payment.
- Website services: our web hosting provider, which stores the website and its data, and Google Fonts, which delivers the fonts used on the site (your browser shares your IP address with Google when it loads them).
- Authorities: government or law-enforcement bodies, but only when Indian law requires it.
These partners may only use your data to provide their service to us.
5. How Long We Keep It
- Orders and invoices: for as long as Indian tax law requires. For GST records this is generally six years from the due date of the annual return for that year.
- Your account: until you ask us to delete it, or after a long period of no activity.
- Newsletter: until you unsubscribe.
- Messages and support requests: as long as needed to resolve them, and then for a reasonable period in case of follow-up questions.
When we no longer need your data, we delete it or make it anonymous, unless the law requires us to keep it.
6. Cookies
Cookies are small files your browser stores. We use only the cookies the shop needs to work:
- Cart cookies (woocommerce_cart_hash, woocommerce_items_in_cart, wp_woocommerce_session_): remember what is in your cart.
- Login cookies (wordpress_logged_in_ and similar): keep you signed in to your account.
- Payment cookies: set by our payment provider during checkout, for security and fraud prevention.
We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but the cart and checkout will not work without them.
7. Your Rights
You can ask us to:
- tell you what personal data we hold about you and who we have shared it with;
- correct, complete or update it;
- delete it, unless we must keep it by law (for example, invoices);
- stop using it for marketing, or withdraw any consent you have given;
- let another person you nominate exercise these rights for you in case of death or incapacity.
To make a request, contact our Grievance Officer (section 11). You can also update your details yourself under My Account. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
8. Security
Our website uses an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, passwords are stored in encrypted form, and access to order data is limited to the people who need it. If a data breach ever affects your personal data, we will tell you and the authorities as Indian law requires.
9. Children
We sell books and Bibles for children, but our shop is meant to be used by adults. If you are under 18, please ask a parent or guardian to place the order for you. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children without a parent’s or guardian’s consent.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed. If we make important changes, we will tell you on the website or by email.
